Today: How to Cost Justify, Implement and
Earn ARRA Dollars
Allen
Murphy, NextGen Healthcare, will
discuss the expected ROI from today's full EHRs and
how to implement the EHR to take advantage of those
cost benefits. Specific steps to evaluate EHRs and
how they may or may not fit your practice needs will
be reviewed. Various strategies and tactics for
achieving a successful implementation will be
addressed. He will also touch on some key elements
that will enable practices to earn the stimulus
dollars offered as part of the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
2009 Health Care Review
Cathy Weaver, Somerset Health Care Team, will
provide a brief review of the major events in the
health care industry during 2009--new fee schedules,
legislative updates, etc. She will also talk about
what to expect in 2010.

About the Speakers
Allen
Murphy, MBA, has been in the business of physician
computing systems since 1984. Since 1994 he has been
working exclusively in the field of EMR (Electronic
Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records).
In January 2006, he took on the role of Director of
Orthopedic, Neurology and Neurosurgery Products for
NextGen Healthcare Systems and has been actively leading
efforts in the sales, implementation and support of
these systems for the physicians and groups practicing
in these three specialties and other related
specialties.
NextGen Healthcare provides integrated electronic
health record (EHR) and practice management systems,
connectivity solutions, and revenue cycle management
services for hospitals, health systems and physician
practices. NextGen's mission is to help our clients
improve quality, cut costs, increase revenue, streamline
processes, reduce risks and provide optimal care to
their patients.

Cathy Weaver, CASC, CMPE, CHFA,
is a senior manager in the Somerset Health Care Team and
has been with Somerset since 1999. She advises her
physician group and ambulatory surgery center clients in
navigating compliance concerns, operational development
guidance and reviews and new facility construction.
Cathy has also developed an expertise in negotiating
contracts and fair fee schedules, while teaching her
clients the strengths their facility or practice can
bring to the payers. Cathy graduated from Indiana
University in 1994 with a B.S. in public health
administration. She holds the CASC (Certified
Administrator Surgery Center) and CMPE (Certified
Medical Practice Executive) designations, and is a
licensed CHFA (Comprehensive Health Facility
Administrator) in the state of Indiana. In addition,
Cathy is a member of the American College of Medical
Practice Executives, Federated Ambulatory Surgery
Association, Medical Group Management Association,
Indiana Federation of Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Ohio
Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Kentucky
Association of Ambulatory Surgical Centers and Indiana
Medical Group Management Association. |
