Information Solutions
Team to Present at Conferences
Jason
A. Leveson, a senior manager, and John Dighton, a manager on Somerset’s
Information Solutions Team, both experts in Axium’s suite of
products, will present four sessions in April at the Axium Users Association
National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As Axium
Certified Consultants, Jason and John regularly consult with clients
regarding all aspects of their accounting software needs, including
selection, installation, implementation and training.
The first day of the three-day conference offers two all-day workshops, and
the following two days offer three tracks—two for Protrax and one for Ajera.
Jason and John will present on both April 26 and 27. Three of their sessions
cover Protrax, and one covers Ajera--see session descriptions
below.

Protrax:
Project Budgeting & Reporting Lab
Thursday, April 26, 2007 - 10:30 a.m. to Noon
Successful businesses know they are successful, in part, because they’ve
done the heavy lifting of drawing up budgets. They then can measure actual
results against their budgeted ones. The actuals then go on to inform the
next budgeting process in a consistent feedback loop. In design firms, the
success of the firm depends upon the success of the projects. No surprise
then, that the most successful firms come up with project budgets before
they actually start work on the project. In this hands-on lab, we’ll explore
the budgeting process. We’ll cover how to create one within Protrax and how
to import a budget from a spreadsheet. (Project managers like spreadsheets!)
We’ll also look at several reports that show how well the project is doing
with respect to the budget.
Protrax:
Contract Setup & Workflow Lab
Thursday, April 26, 2007 - 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
How to set up a contract? Let me count the ways: Is it time and expenses
or a fixed fee? They’re both as easy as 1-2-3. Shall we use a template, or
start it from scratch? Gather up a couple and we’ll do up a batch. And we
must link each item to a project and phase. We’ll go over that in a couple
of ways. Of course, there will be changes—that’s inevitable: So you’ll learn
that along with other ins and outs. We’ll give you the knowledge to wield
your clout.
Ajera:
PORTFOLIO Budgeting & Scheduling Lab
Friday, April 27, 2007 - 10:30 a.m. to Noon
Do your project managers want more detail for the project budgets? Would
the principals and project managers like to know the firm’s workload
scheduling needs? These questions will be answered in this hands-on lab
using PORTFOLIO.
Protrax:
Extreme Billing Lab – Workflow, Tips & Tricks
Friday, April 27, 2007 - 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Follow the billing workflow from generation of WIP to printing and
posting final invoices. Among the topics will be corrections and transfers
of labor between projects and phases, corrections to WIP items entered
through Accounts Payable or Project Control and deferring and splitting
billing items to invoice generation and printing. This session is ideal if
you are relatively new to the billing processes within Protrax and have a
basic understanding of the Billing A/C and P/C modules.
