A Caution for Road Warriors

Contractors and their employees who travel on business should be very careful where and when they use their laptops or cell phones. Hackers are using sophisticated programs to access passwords, bank account information, and credit card data from travelers who log on to wireless networks at airports, hotels and other public places. Computer security experts recommend that travelers who need to access their corporate network while on the road should do so through a virtual private network (VPN). Travelers whose companies don’t have a VPN can subscribe to various services that provide similar security.

Lower Operating Costs Motivate Buyers of Green Homes

Nearly two thirds (63%) of surveyed individuals who had purchased energy- and resource-efficient “green” homes stated that they were motivated to buy their homes by the prospect of lower operating and maintenance costs. The survey, conducted by the National Association of Home Builders and McGraw-Hill Construction, also found that 85% of “green” homeowners are more satisfied with their new homes than with previous traditional-style homes.
